Mounjaro® storage: refrigerator, room temperature & discard windows
Storage windows are presentation-specific. Always read the Medication Guide and Instructions for Use that shipped with your pens or vials, and verify details on DailyMed / FDA labeling (citations checked as of September 25, 2026).
Core label themes
- Refrigerate unused product in the temperature range stated on the label (commonly described as refrigerator storage).
- Do not freeze. If frozen, do not use—ask a pharmacist about next steps.
- Protect from light as directed (often by keeping in the original carton until use).
- Room-temperature allowance exists for limited periods on many labels—do not exceed the IFU window for your presentation.
- In-use multi-dose devices have discard-after-first-use timelines separate from unopened refrigerated dating—follow the KwikPen® / multi-dose IFU exactly.
Travel and heat
Keep product within labeled temperature limits during travel. Avoid leaving pens in hot cars or direct sun. If exposure is uncertain, ask a pharmacist before injecting.
Compounded products
Compounded tirzepatide is not FDA-approved Mounjaro®. Beyond-use dating and storage instructions come from the compounding pharmacy label—not from the Lilly Mounjaro Medication Guide. See compounded vs brand.
